Our actions, our projects

Sport and Sustainable Development Observatory (OSDD) has been created in 2006 as a result of the fourth national meeting on “Sustainable Development” in Nantes, France. Our mission is to support and promote sustainable sporting practices and to display the Agenda 21 program within the French and European sport community.

In December 2006, a data Bank www.sport-durable.com was elaborated in order to achieve favorable results. It now opens the access to qualitative informations about sporting practices that lead to sustainable development, and to several official documents (action plan of the Agenda 21 program, deeds of conferences, etc…)

The OSDD wish to favor the collaboration between the numerous agents working in that multidimensional but unique main sphere connecting sport, environment and economies.
Such collaboration can help spread the benefits of sustainable development. Indeed it will favor the creation of new analysis tools and will lead to a better understanding of all dimensions.

The OSDD aims to unite, inform and assist people in order to harmonize the relationship between sport and sustainable development

Our actions

• Operational Method “Toward Agendas 21 for water sports”
http://www.sport-durable.com/Reporter/spip.php?article162
Objectives of the method:
o Operational Tools for the water sports industry.
o Diagnostic, sensitize, dynamize (DSD)
o Identify core issues for each agent
o Identify agreements and disagreements
o Combine knowledges and experiences
o Writing a directory of partners and good practices
o Elaboration of a method using inductive and deductive reasoning.
Our method is based on sociologic, politic and economic works to define and run sustainable projects (Agenda 21) differently and with better efficiency.

• Use of water for sports activities: what kind of legitimacy?
http://www.sport-durable.com/Reporter/spip.php?article161
Objective: use of water, who, why? This is a burning issue because uses are numerous (agriculture, fishing, hobbies, water sports, hydroelectricity, industrial needs, etc.). A global collaboration between all the stakeholders can lead to the creation a real governance for the access of water. Our method uses the sociology results that enable to analyze the same situation from different points of view, for example the use of water by sportsmen.
